Participants in the course will explore ways to:
- Practice creatively and efficiently
- Solve artistic and technical problems
- Perform with confidence and artistry
- Elevate interpretive abilities
- Sharpen entrepreneurial skills
- Forge artistic visions and career plans
- Assess musical and technical progress
- Foster good health and avoid occupational injury
- Function productively in musical groups
- Thrive in music institutions such as conservatories and large ensembles
The class will emphasize the acquisition of knowledge, attitudes, and skills (especially problem-solving skills), and also examine how creativity theory can inform a musician’s practice. Designed to complement not replace individual lessons, it will use The Musician’s Way as its primary text and also tap supplemental materials that address the specialized needs of the singers and instrumentalists who participate.
The course will be offered in a range of formats. For 1st-year college students, it will function as a weekly, one-semester class. Other musicians, students, and educators might enroll in weekend seminars, summer courses, evening tutorials, or weeklong retreats.
I'll post additional information here and on The Musician's Way Blog as the course materials develop. Please subscribe to my newsletter to receive updates.
